Questa mattina il jukebox Singing in the Rain vi propone il concept album Drones dei Muse! Sostanzialmente un concept album è formato da canzoni che seguono una trama o un’idea comune e quella di Drones è la crescente disumanizzazione del mondo intero:

Per me, i droni sono metaforicamente psicopatici che permettono comportamenti psicopatici senza possibilità di appello. Il mondo è dominato da droni che utilizzano altri droni per trasformarci tutti in droni. Questo album analizza il viaggio di un essere umano, dalla sua perdita di speranza e dal senso di abbandono, al suo indottrinamento dal sistema per divenire un drone umano, fino all’eventuale defezione da parte dei loro oppressori.

Quindi cosa c’è di meglio di un mondo di umani-droni come ambientazione dispotica di oggi?! Un po’ inquietante, ma serve allo scopo!

Non potendo proporvi tutto l’album, per oggi ho scelto la canzone simbolo di questo concept album, Dead Inside, che racconta proprio il primo passo verso la trasformazione in un drone del protagonista!

La canzone di oggi è forse un simbolo del BDSM – pratica che E. L. James ha tanto usato nelle sua trilogia ma che non va esattamente vista come fa il suo Mr. Grey – ma è anche un esempio dello stile anni ’80 e dei Depeche Mode, nonché di come si possa dire qualcosa di profondo usando come scusa quella di descrivere un gioco sadomaso, qualcosa di cui tutti fingono di ignorare l’esistenza ben sapendo che non è così.

Singing in the Rain #37 : “Something About England” by The Clash

Martedì di musica con Singing in the Rain, il jukebox a tema Gran Bretagna 😄

Questa mattina sono un po’ arrabbiata con YouTube e Internet in generale (poi capirete perché 🙄), però non lasciatevi scoraggiare perché la canzone di oggi appartiene ad un stratosferico gruppo inglese, i The Clash, che anche dopo 36 anni riescono a dimostrare quanto poco si cambi! Avevo detto di lasciar stare Brexit e il lato politico ma la storia del video (poi capirete) mi hanno fatto cambiare idea, almeno per oggi 😁

È un testo davvero attuale, che distrugge pian piano la falsa idea contenuta nella prima strofa (Dicono che gli immigrati rubino i coprimozzi/Dei gentiluomini rispettabili/Dicono che sarebbe tutto rose e fiori/Se l’Inghilterra appartenesse di nuovo agli inglesi) raccontando tutte le tragedie e le colpe che hanno colpito gli inglesi proprio a causa loro. Giusto per far riflettere un po’…

Musica, musica e ancora musica con i Martedì di Singing in the Rain 😄

Jennifer Lawrence, credo che per i suoi fan sia risaputo, ha poco a che fare con la musica, ma ha preso parte al videoclip di The Mess I Made dei The Paracadute e ha inciso, ottenendo un disco di platino, The Hanging Tree per Hunger Games – Il canto della rivolta (Parte 2), proprio la canzone che oggi propongo!
